Mission & Purpose

Mission

As the Texas Sacred Arts Society, our mission is simple yet profound: to inspire and evangelize through beauty. We exist to lift up living Roman Catholic creators — poets, authors, visual artists, and musicians — whose work reveals the splendor of God's presence in our world.

Purpose

Our purpose is to further the mission of the Catholic Church in Texas by making sacred art a visible, vibrant force in our parishes, schools, and communities. Through their gifts, artists help bring the Gospel to life, opening hearts in ways words alone cannot.

Mission Prayer

O Almighty God, Creator of all beauty and Lord of heaven and earth, we humbly beseech Thee to bless the mission of the Texas Sacred Arts Society.

In an age that has veiled Thy splendor, let Thy light shine forth and enkindle anew the fire of Catholic sacred art among Thy faithful in Texas. Pour out Thy Holy Spirit upon all who labor to restore painting, sculpture, music, and architecture worthy of Thy holy temples, that beauty may once more draw souls to Thee.

Grant generous hearts and zealous charity to all who support this noble work, that through the via pulchritudinis Thy Church may shine forth in renewed splendor for the evangelization of the world.

Through the intercession of Our Blessed Lady, Seat of Wisdom; Saint Joseph; Saint Luke, patron of artists; St. Francis de Sales, patron of writers; and Saint Cecilia, patron of musicians, we ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

More events will be added as they are confirmed.

Sacred Art in the Church Today

Sacred art has long shaped Catholic hearts through beauty reflecting the divine. In Texas parishes, one still finds Palestrina harmonies, saint-filled stained glass, and faith-inspired poetry. Yet challenges persist: minimal funding, utilitarian church design, and secularization have reduced new commissions, platforms for writers, and opportunities for young artists.

Hope is rising with renewed interest in chant, polyphony, devotional art, and Catholic literary movements. Texas—with its growing Catholic population and cultural richness—has strong potential to lead this renewal.

Sacred art evangelizes powerfully by moving hearts and making faith’s mysteries visible. Artists need encouragement, resources, and community to flourish. TSAS helps the Church in Texas become a fountain of new sacred beauty.
